The four chief towns of the province - Aquila, Chieti, Pescara, Teramo - as well as many other cities which have had in the past a very important role, preserve treasures of art and history, archaeological vestiges, museums, cathedrals, castles, aqueducts, fountains which testify a long working life on the coast, in the fields and in the mountains. From ceramics of Castelli to the wood of Pretoro, liquors of Tocco Casàuria to the goldsmith’s shop of Scanno, to quote only those, the craft industry is still alive in each corner of this area, craft industry whose origins often go up to the pre history and the proto history.
It is an attractive area, rich of ancient and modern contrasts, where the respect of the tradition is ancestral, where the man didn’t lose yet its original qualities.
Between the north and the south and on the antiques ways which carried out from the Adriatic to Rome, the Abruzzi have now recovered their function of "cusp of Italy" and
admirably melt in the heart of their history contrasts and harmony which have nourished the life of the Country. (extracted of the official site Abruzzi area)
