Lombardia presents the double aspect of an area of mountains at north and of a fertile plain at the south; it has also the distinguished chance to have 4 lakes which are the florets.
The Maggiore Lake, majestic, at the edge of Switzerland and Piemonte, conceals the famous “Borromeo islands”; the Como Lake of a quiet beauty, with Bellagio, the "pearl of the lake", and the splendid villas Carlotta and Melzi with there magnificent gardens; the Iseo Lake and its picturesque villages; the Garda Lake with the splendid Sirmione (castle of Scaliger and villa of Catulle). Some spectacular mountain landscapes which board these lakes in their northern part (famous ski resorts such as Livigno, Bormio...).
The Lombardia area owns immense parks (national like the one of Stelvio and regional like those of Oglio and Adanello) which will interest anyone in love with nature.
The art lovers will be filled with the towns of Brescia, Bergamo, Lodi, Cremone (fatherland of Matted and Stadivarius), Mantoue (Palace of the tea), Pavia (and its Chartreuse), and of course Milan (Duomo, Pinacothèque of Brera, castle of Sforza, Gallery Victor Emmanuel-II, Scala, temple of the worldwide opera...).
Milan, it is also the capital of the mode, of the design, a formidably dynamic city, with its recognized gastronomy (risotto “alla Milanese”, “the Milanese” escalope...)
Lombardia is the Italian paradise for people who love golf with 28 courses. The water sports, the lakes, horsemanship, mountain cycling, are as many activities for a sportive healthy vacation. |
