Sardinia is mainly a wild region. Surrounded of a limpid emerald sea with
beaches made of fine sand, rich of majestic mountains and fertile plains, surronded by fresh torrents and clear rivers, this area will makes you think about paradise. The back-country is rich of various archaeological treasures (the “nuraghes”, conical towers dating from the 2nd millenium BC), of monuments of Roman origin, of popular traditions, such as the craft industry, the folk festivals, the gastronomy and the language of the country.
The culinary specialities of the Island derive primarily from the kitchen of the shepherds and the peasants. Pigs of milk, wild boars spit-roasted... the regional speciality are the delicious pastes "malloreddus" with a little bit of saffron. It is also the fishery products: fish (tuna, sardine, mullet), the shellfish (lobsters) and shells. And still the pork-butcheries (sausages and salamis) and the cheeses (Sardinian pecorino).
Sardinia produces also authentic wines, framed, high of alcohol.
Sardinia is the dreamed place for holidays at the edge of the sea and the lodgings are numerous (clubs of holidays, hotels, villas...). amateurs of calms will prefer the agritourisms. It is also the kingdom of the "trekking" and equestrian tourism, best way to discover the interior of this marvellous island. For those in love with old stones, they will enjoy the Sardinian cities like Alghero, Cagliari, Pula and the ruins of Nora...
